Volunteer Requirement
In September of 2008, ZHAA membership approved a motion requiring all member families to volunteer a minimum of two hours to the association from September 1 - July 31. This requirement was put before the board and passed unanimously due to the growing amount of work necessary to run the organization, combined with a widespread lack of willing volunteers.
ZHAA is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization, not affiliated with -- or funded by -- any other public or private organization. The success of our organization is directly tied to the generosity of parents who kindly give their time and skills.
At registration, a $50 check will be required from each family. Once a member family fulfills it's volunteer obligation, this check will be returned UNCASHED.
Typically, ZHAA members will select their volunteer option at registration. Registration forms will list a wide variety of areas from which to volunteer. A master volunteer sheet will also be available during open registration.
A considerable amount of planning and work is carried out throughout the year. A member's two-hour volunteer requirement can be fulfilled at any time during the year, beginning September 1.

Members not signing up for a specific volunteer task may be assigned a task where needed. However, all efforts will be made to accommodate a family's wishes and time considerations. ZHAA will do its best to match a member with an area of need.
The association is also always looking for electricians, plumbers, carpenters, accountants and others who are willing to donate their professional expertise and time.
