Volunteers

The Zelienople Harmony Athletic Association is always looking for help in planning, promoting and executing various activities throughout the year. During the season, volunteers are essential for a successful year. But, equally important, volunteers are needed in the off-season to ensure that everything is in place for a smooth-running season.

Volunteers are the life-blood of our organization. ZHAA has a long history of dedicated and caring volunteers. The success of our organization is directly tied to the generosity of parents and organizations who kindly give their time and skills.

Remember, ZHAA is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization, not affiliated with -- or funded by -- any other public or private organization. We always welcome the input and assistance of any interested party.

Volunteer Requirement

In September of 2008, the ZHAA board passed a motion requiring all member families to volunteer a minimum of two hours to the association from September 1 - July 31. This requirement was put before the board and passed unanimously due to a serious lack of volunteers over the last few years. Over 300 families are registered with ZHAA. Yet, it has been estimated, only about a dozen or so individuals are actively involved in running the organization.

Please be aware that this volunteer service requirement is separate from -- and addition to -- any concession stand obligation required of members during the season.

At registration, a $50 check will be required from each family. Once a member family fulfills it's volunteer obligation, this check will be returned UNCASHED.

Some areas in need of volunteers include...

  • Building & Grounds
  • Fundraising
  • Concessions
  • Steak Fry
  • 4th of July Post-Parade Soda Stand
  • Horse Trading Days Concert
  • Field Day
  • Night at the Races
  • Policies and By-Laws Committee
  • Player Development
  • Public Relations
  • Capital Improvement Committee
  • League Commissioner
  • Used Equipment Trading Event (at Try-outs)
  • Golf Outing
  • Registration Data Entry
  • Board of Director Positions
  • Head Coach
  • Sponsorship Solicitation

The association is also always looking for electricians, plumbers, carpenters, accountants and others who are willing to donate their professional expertise and time.

An extensive, detailed master volunteer sheet listing specific needs of the organization will be available at registration, at membership meetings or by contacting any current ZHAA officer. The volunteer positions on this sheet will be filled on a 'first-come, first-serve' basis. (Members MUST sign this sheet. No e-mails or phone calls, please.) Members not signed up for a specific task on this sheet, can indicate volunteer preferences on the ZHAA registration form. ZHAA will do its best to match a member with an area of need.
